Building a Digital Presence with Purpose 💼📱
Recently, our Union County CEO Class of 2027 gathered at The Villa-Pizza Villa for an inspiring session with Kasie Woodworth, Social Media and Marketing Specialist for the Midland Institute for Entrepreneurship. Kasie walked our young professionals through the power of LinkedIn and social media marketing, and the conversation left a lasting impression.
Kasie showed our students that LinkedIn is so much more than an online résumé. It's a professional platform where first impressions are made, and every detail matters. One student admitted to walking in skeptical as someone who rarely uses social media, but left "really amazed" and excited to start building a LinkedIn presence to promote their business. Another was surprised to learn how much formatting choices affect an account's effectiveness, and was grateful to feel "set up for success" before creating a profile.
Our students also discovered the strategy behind great content. One shared that they hadn't realized how large a role social media plays in marketing, noting that it has replaced many of the in-person first impressions we make with customers, employers, and employees. Learning about strategic posting times, like catching people during their morning "coffee time," sparked fresh ideas for promoting our class business.
Perhaps the most meaningful moment came when Kasie reminded the class: "Everyone is allowed to build a digital presence. You deserve to take up space anywhere, and everywhere you go." For one student, those words were a powerful reminder that they belong in every room their hard work opens up for them. ❤️
To close out the session, the class filmed their very first reel together, and judging by the energy and ideas flowing, it certainly won't be the last! 🎬
