Last Friday, our Union County CEO young professionals had the privilege of visiting Taylor Dodd and Wood Insurance and Dodd Architects—and what an insightful and engaging experience it was!

We began our morning on the insurance side, where Brad Dodd and Hunter Boyd provided an approachable and informative look into the world of insurance. Rather than focusing solely on technical details, they shared real-life experiences, practical insights, and even a few memorable stories that made the industry come to life. Our young professionals gained a deeper understanding of the role of an independent agency, the importance of truly knowing your client, and the balance of “selling the product to the client—and the client to the company,” a concept clearly explained by Hunter, a 2022 Union County CEO alumnus.

A highlight for many was learning about Brad’s unique career path—from flying commercial airplanes to building a career in insurance—reinforcing the idea that career journeys are rarely linear and often full of unexpected opportunities.

We then transitioned to Dodd Architects, where Ryan Dodd gave our team an in-depth look at the world of architecture. Our young entrepreneurs were fascinated to learn that architecture goes far beyond drawing building designs—it involves detailed planning, coordination, and comprehensive project development. From initial concepts to full planning books, architects play a critical role in bringing projects to life long before construction begins. Students especially enjoyed seeing visual plans and renderings of local school projects—including our very own Anna-Jonesboro Community High School and Cobden High School—offering a glimpse into how thoughtful design can transform familiar spaces. The emphasis on branding, marketing, and first impressions also left a lasting impact, providing valuable takeaways as they continue developing their own businesses.

Across both businesses, a common theme emerged: success requires strong communication, adaptability, attention to detail, and the ability to build trust. Whether in insurance or architecture, the importance of relationships, problem-solving, and continuous growth was evident.

We are incredibly grateful to Brad Dodd, Ryan Dodd, and Hunter Boyd for their time, transparency, and willingness to invest in our young professionals. We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to Taylor, Dodd & Wood Insurance and Dodd Architects for being valued investors in the Union County CEO program. We are extremely grateful for their commitment, generosity, and continued investment in the future of our young professionals and our community.

Experiences like this continue to show our young professionals the many paths available to them—and the level of dedication it takes to succeed.

Thank you for an outstanding visit! 👏
