To kickoff the UCCEO program this year, we have been working with stevenwiseman, Chief Motivational Officer for Rise Performance 618 in a series of team building sessions. Steven is a Marine, a retired IL National Guard recruiter, a husband and father, an entrepreneur and part of the Rise Performance team. He is also a one of the most community minded individuals we know and one of the most supportive.
A big part of the UCCEO experience is the team culture and bonding as a team. This is experience is invaluable and has a HUGE impact on communication, conflict resolution, respect for differing opinions and cohesiveness as demonstrated by the following reflections shared by several of our students:

“On the team-building days we had with Mr. Wiseman, I always had fun. My favorite part was probably coming up with the dances because it required us to meet up outside of school to come up with something. This encouraged team work and grew the team closer together because it just turned into hangouts. I also enjoyed the first week where we were put on the spot and figured out how to work together to come up with ideas to fit Mr. Wiseman’s prompts. Team building has been a highlight in my weeks, and I always looked forward to it. Thank you, Mr. Wiseman, for taking the time to meet and grow our team together!”
Drue Teske:
“Over these past four weeks, Steven has not just grown our CEO team together, but has intertwined our group, forcing us out of our comfort zone, encouraged collaboration with each other outside of class, and teaching us how to navigate conflict. His lessons have done nothing but inspire me to not only learn from others but also express myself around this group to display my full potential as a leader and collaborator.
I especially enjoyed our last session at Rise, where we practiced fun pitches, organized a language, and learned the challenges of communicating through limited perspectives. Personally, I took something away from each session, and would not make any changes to the outline of the series. Thank you, Steven, for INTERTWINING our Union County CEO class into a thriving group of leaders, communicators, and listeners!”

Grant Miller:
“The things we learned about conflict and communication really resonated with me, because I had never realized how related they were. The thing that Steven said that really stuck with me is when he said “Conflict usually arises with poor communication.” I often don’t understand why people don’t know what I am saying sometimes, but now I know that it’s because they communicate in different ways than I do. Overall, the team building was great as a whole but my favorite part will always be the celebration.”
Our celebration was a potluck breakfast with instructions to wear party clothes because Steven wanted to also to point out that it’s important to celebrate as individuals and as a team and celebrate we did!
Thank you Steven for an amazing experience and Rise Performance 618 for sharing your awesome space!
