On the Alumni visit: I really liked this visit because I got to talk to them one on one and learn a few tips for whenever I start up my own business.

Alejandra on Rendleman Orchards--Mr. Sirles was telling us that one factor that helped boost their business was the local movement. The local movement raises awareness for local businesses, which leads to a better community.

Alejandra on Beck Simonds--One thing that I found fascinating was that their company recycles roof shingles and turns them into a special grounded down material that eventually is used for fixing roads. I found this recycling process very fascinating because it helps prevent roof shingles from taking up space in landfills.

Alejandra on Clay Mitchell--Like a few other business owners that have spoken to us, he also gave us advice which was that “there are a lot of opportunities all over the place”. I really liked how he mentioned this because sometimes we think that we are limited when it comes to choosing a career, but in actuality, we are not.

On meeting with Brooke Miller: When she started to talk about her past experiences one thing stood out to me. She was really calm and composed when she spoke to us. Once I noticed this, I was immediately inspired to be as outspoken and confident as she was when she spoke to us.

On Kristen Hadeed: Kristen mentioned a few things that reasonated with me-It's okay to mess up as long as you learn from it and You have to take growth into your own hands. 09/25/2017
On Peaceful Pet Resort: Another thing that really stuck with me was when Mrs. Becky Duty told us to “treat your customers right and pay attention to their needs”.

On the Youth Success Rally--One of my experiences that I enjoyed was the “mummy” team exercise. This exercise was not only funny, but I got to see my team work together and find a way to wrap me around in toilet paper as best as they could! The second experience that I thought was very interesting was when all of us students got numbered off and went to the gym. At the gym I met up with other students and all of us got to learn a little bit about each other. We also had to brainstorm together as a team and think up of different rhythms and beats for the project we were doing.

Two of the tips that I remember Curt Walker talking about was to “do something that you’re really passionate about” and “don’t be afraid of failure”.
