🌾 A Huge Thank You to the Union County Farm Bureau!
On Tuesday, September 8, our Union County CEO students visited the Union Co. Farm Bureau, , where Farm Bureau Manager Kenzie Dillow generously spent time with us as our guest speaker. As always, we're reminded how grateful we are for the Farm Bureau — not just as a longtime investor in our program, but as one of our valued homebase locations. Their continued support makes days like this possible, and we simply couldn't do what we do without them.
Kenzie gave our students an inside look at what the Farm Bureau does on both a local and national level, and the conversation went places we didn't expect. Students walked away with a much bigger picture of agriculture than "farming" — learning about the sheer amount of policy and government involvement behind the industry, the pressures facing today's farming families, and the surprising range of careers within ag, from business and law to advocacy and education. More than one student told us their whole mindset about agriculture shifted that day.
Our students really connected with Kenzie — she made room for their questions, met them where they were, and clearly cares about educating our community, young and old alike, through programs like Ag in the Classroom.
The impact Kenzie made was clear in our students' own words. Here's a direct quote from Kinley Leek, Union County CEO team member and student at Anna Jonesboro Community High School, straight from her journal entry that day:
"On Tuesday, I learned about how important the Farm Bureau and Kenzie's job is. This might sound cliche, but she truly inspires me to put myself forward as a woman and lead. She seems like a person who is very organized with strong ideas. I liked hearing about how there are plenty of job opportunities that involve agriculture. It was interesting to think that in my future I could be working behind a computer and still be supporting people in agricultural fields. Out of the entire meeting with Kenzie, I noticed her presentation skills the most. I felt that Kenzie was a great speaker and held great confidence. I even took note that I want to speak like her when I give speeches. She kept me interested and I was pleasantly surprised about how fascinated in agriculture I was becoming by the second."
