On Monday, August 31, Union County CEO had the pleasure of hosting Chris Egelston - Corporate Entertainer, Infotainer, Magician, Community Engagement Leader for the Midland Institute for Entrepreneurship, at Pizza Villa for a session on the DISC assessment our students had just completed.

We were especially excited to share the morning with the Johnson County CEO team, along with their facilitator Emily Kerley and board member Susan Odum. Getting to learn alongside a neighboring CEO program is exactly the kind of connection that makes this network special.

Chris broke down what each DISC style brings to the table and how understanding those differences helps a team actually get things done. For many of our students, this was their first real look at their own personality profile — and you could see the lightbulbs going off as they started connecting the dots on their own strengths, their classmates' strengths, and even the people in their everyday lives.

There were a few "getting to know you" awkward moments as two classes met for the first time — but that's part of the growth too. Our students practiced reading a room, starting conversations, and finding common ground with people they'd never met (and in a few cases, reconnecting with familiar faces from FFA, livestock shows, and other shared activities).
