🎄 Decorating Christmas Cookies with First “Class” Cookies was the sweetest way to start our day!
We had an absolutely wonderful morning with Sharon Robison Laster, owner of First "Class" Cookies, and her grandson, 2019 UCCEO alum Jackson Laster, who joined us via Zoom all the way from near Arlington, Washington!
Sharon began by sharing her inspiring story. After retiring from the Illinois State Police, she turned her love of baking into a thriving side business offering cookie-decorating classes. First Class Cookies has grown steadily over the years (8), and Sharon now teaches sessions—often at Kiki’s Coffeehouse—where she gets to combine her passion for creativity, connection, and community.
Jackson then shared his remarkable post-CEO journey. After graduating from AJCHS, he earned a degree in data analytics from St. Louis University. During his sophomore year, he attended an open interview event at Busch Stadium—and his CEO-inspired professionalism set him apart immediately. A brief conversation with a Cardinals upper-level manager led to Jackson working two seasons as a supervisor in the Cardinal Club Lounge.
He went on to secure a coveted internship with Anheuser-Busch, which later resulted in a full-time offer and relocation to Washington as a Safety Supervisor. Jackson has now been promoted to Operations Supervisor in January 2025! His advice to our team was simple but powerful: “be open to opportunities.” He reminded students that stepping outside your comfort zone can open doors you never expected.
Sharon has remained an incredible supporter of UCCEO since Jackson’s time in the program and has served as a mentor for the past three years. Her commitment to giving back is truly admirable, and we are so grateful for her generosity, leadership, and continued involvement.
Our young professionals jumped right into decorating, showing off their creativity—and enjoying the delicious results of their hard work.
A heartfelt thank you to both Sharon and Jackson for sharing their talents, experiences, and enthusiasm with us. Your support means so much to our students and to the entire UCCEO program! ❤️🍪✨
