“Show me a successful individual and I’ll show you someone who had real positive influences in his or her life. I don’t care what you do for a living—if you do it well I’m sure there was someone cheering you on or showing the way. A mentor.” — Denzel Washington

One of the most meaningful and impactful components of the UCCEO program is our Mentoring Program. Each year, business and community leaders from across the county generously volunteer their time and experience to walk alongside our young professionals, providing guidance, encouragement, and genuine support throughout their CEO journey.

These mentors serve as sounding boards, cheerleaders, advisors, and sometimes just good listeners. Over the course of the year, they’ve shown up not just to help with business strategies but to build real relationships that extend beyond the classroom.

This year, we were proud to host monthly “Mentor Mashes,” with our final one recently held at Pizza Villa. These casual get-togethers have been a highlight for both mentors and mentees—opportunities to connect, laugh, share stories, and build lasting bonds.

Our 12 mentors this year have played an instrumental role in every part of the CEO experience: helping with the class business, supporting individual ventures, offering insight for the trade show, and so much more. Their impact cannot be overstated.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to:
• Dori Bigler - Chesnee Marks
• Tanya Loveless - Kyle Conway
• Melise Smith Oakley - Brooklynn Eastman
• Tim Taylor - Lucas Salazar
• Travis Holtkamp - COUNTRY Financial - Jackson Rendleman
• Kendell Boysen - Kenzie Stover
• Sharon Robison Laster - Alaina Charles
• Casey Johnson - Cole Penrod
• Edward Jones-Financial Advisor: Tommy Colboth - Cash Hodges
• Celisha Merriman - Brinley Corbit
• Stephanie Cox - Evelyn Campbell
• Kati Denny - Avery Stegle
• Drake Campbell
• Hunter Boyd

The heart of this program beats stronger because of mentors like you.

Here’s what a few of our students had to say about their experiences:

Kenzie Stover, mentored by Kendell Boysen, shared:

“I had the privilege of being mentored by Ms. Kendell Boysen, and my experience with her has been nothing short of exceptional. Kendell has consistently gone above and beyond to assist me, and I have truly enjoyed every moment working with her. Her willingness to offer her time, advice, and encouragement — no matter the hour — has meant more to me than I can express.”

Jackson Rendleman, mentored by Travis Holtkamp, reflected:

“Travis is not just a mentor—he was also my financial guide throughout the entire year, from the class business to starting up my own. I didn’t even know what an LLC or Sole Proprietorship was until I called Travis for help. But our conversations weren’t just about business—we talked about life, too. Having someone like Travis check in on me, even outside of CEO topics, was a blessing. I don’t think he even realizes how much of an impact he’s had.”

Alaina Charles, mentored by Sharon Laster, expressed:

“Sharon Laster is by far one of the best mentors I could’ve asked for. Whether I call or text her out of the blue, she’s always there to answer and make sure I’m prepared. No matter the situation, she helps keep me motivated and focused. She’s someone who brings a positive outlook to every challenge, and I truly believe everyone needs a ‘Sharon’ in their life. Thank you so much, Sharon, for everything—the experiences, the encouragement, and all the life advice.”

To our mentors: thank you for investing your time, energy, and hearts into these students. Your presence has not only helped shape their businesses—but has also helped shape who they’re becoming. Your legacy lives on in each of them.
