On the Farmer's Market--I have always driven by the market in the morning but never knew all the work that was needed to make it run. I also found it very fascinating that the farmers would go to multiple markets throughout the Southern Illinois region. I did not realize that farming occurred almost year round and that so much work would be put into a certain crop. One worker told us that there was only really an offseason of about a month time range. I feel like there is so much more to learn about farming considering the facts and knowledge given to me.

I also always thought that to be a good businessman you had to talk well but really you just have to listen well and make good connections. Probably the thing that will stick with me the most from this week is when John Nimmo stated, “Become a good listener.”

On guest speaker, Collin Cain:  What I took the most from that day is when Mr. Cain stated “Always try to improve your business every year.” I also realized that Mr. Cain was very passionate about what he did and really enjoyed it.

On the fair tour:  I found that the fair has a lot more complexity than I had expected. I always thought that it was very simple such as rides, vendors and animals. I never thought of all the money and time that had to be put into the fair.  I didn't realize that they would have to pay so many bills and cover so many things with insurance.  08/23/2017
